Arcor

So, that company is an internet/phone company here in Germany. They have been coming around to the housing areas claiming many things- trying to get people to sign on to their company and leave TKS. Wouldn’t have a problem with it if it wasn’t for the fact that they are lying and telling everyone a different story about why they are coming around. TKS is not closing, the government is not making them offer you a cheaper service, and they are not in any way shape or form, in business with TKS.

DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING! If you know ANYONE who has signed paperwork from this company, tell them to go down to TKS. You have 2 weeks to end the contract with Arcor or else you are stuck in that one (and your TKS one if you have a contract with them).

A week ago a man came to my door telling me that TKS was closing and they are taking over and their service is cheaper (it is in fact cheaper)- he also said I would not have to pay the VAT with them. He claimed I could keep my phone number and I would get 2 months free if I switched. I told him I have a contract with TKS and he said they would terminate it, pay all disconnection fees, and etc…A neighbor was told that it is required by law for them to tell us about a cheaper service and kept saying “Government this”–”German government that”.  Another neighbor I know was told that they are just taking over for TKS since the community is so unhappy with them and that everything would stay the same- they would just get the bill at their street address instead.

Moral of the story- beware that this is going on and tell your friends NOT to sign anything and do NOT listen to what they are telling you. All the information they are giving people is in german- nothing is in english. I just wanted to make sure you all know this is going on and that you (and your friends/neighbors) don’t fall for it.

  1. Wow, I know Arcor is cheaper, but from what I heard the service sucks, the net is down a lot and such. I thought they wern’t allowed to go around to housing to try to sell services. I’m sure people have been screwed on it.

  2. Yeah that guy came to our house last week too. We kindly told him to get lost because he’s wasting his time in our stairwell. We claimed we were moving soon and our neighbors were moving. Thank God he was scared of their dogs, he booked it down the stairs hehe. Poor guy didn’t even really get a chance to go on his big speal about how great his company is. Though the TKS people can sometimes be rude, I like the English bit.

3 of them came to our place and they only stopped nagging us when Angi started asking them questions about their services (in German). I don’t know, I just thing there’s something fishy w/ a phone company that goes door to door to begin with.

I am glad you guys didn’t get sucked in…ALOT of people have so TKS is filing a lawsuit against Arcor. They said if you see these guys in housing to call the MPs- its illegal to solicite in housing to begin with— Let alone do what they are doing. If you’ve seen them once, you are bound to see them again. I have had 2 different guys come by to try and get me to sign with them.

  5. Heh, we’ve gotten Arcor and the Jehova Witnesses off our backs, now we just need the furnature guys to leave us alone. I forgot about the no soliciting thing here. Thank you for the reminder. Next time I will not hesitate to call the MPs.
